FROM THE SECRETARY-GENERAL

Dear Delegates,
It is with immense pride and anticipation that I welcome you to the 9th Edition of Shiv Nadar School Model United Nations, convening on the 31st of July and 1st of August 2026, for two days of diplomacy, reflection, and conversations that transcend borders, binaries, and belief systems.

We gather at a time when the world stands divided against itself - where progress coexists with destruction, privilege with deprivation, and power with vulnerability. Amid conflict, climate crises, and deepening polarisation, millions continue to search for dignity, security, and the simple human comfort of belonging. It is within this reality that the theme of SNS MUN 2026 emerges: “Polarities, Power and Planet: Reimagining Being and Belonging.” More than a theme, it is an invitation to confront the contradictions that define our world. It urges us to examine the systems of power shaping nations and
identities, while reminding us that our relationship with the planet must be rooted not in exploitation, but coexistence and collective responsibility.

Above all, it asks us to reimagine belonging - not as something confined by geography, politics, or ideology, but as the ability to feel heard, valued, and understood even in times of division. At SNS MUN 2026, I hope every delegate remembers that behind every agenda lies a human story. Diplomacy is not merely the art of debate, but the courage to listen with empathy, lead with compassion, and seek humanity even amidst disagreement. On behalf of the Secretariat, it is my absolute honour to welcome you to SNS MUN 2026. We eagerly await the passion, intellect, and perspective each of you will bring to this conference. May this experience inspire you to question fearlessly, navigate polarities thoughtfully, and reimagine belonging in a divided world. Wishing you strength, purpose, and the very best for the journey ahead.

Kayana Monga

Secretary-General
